ATX Somms Presents: ROOTED: Three Generations of Trefethen
Family. Land. Legacy. The Future.
This ATX Somms class will explore what it truly means to be a multigenerational, family-owned winery in Napa Valley through the story and wines of Trefethen Family Vineyards.
With third-generation family member Lorenzo Trefethen leading the conversation, we’ll go beyond a traditional winery tasting to examine the opportunities—and responsibilities—that come with inheriting a family legacy.
The conversation will explore three generations of Trefethen: the first generation’s vision and investment in the land; John and Janet Trefethen’s role in building the winery and helping shape modern Napa Valley; and Lorenzo’s generation, which now faces the question of how to preserve that legacy while continuing to evolve.
Through five estate wines—Dry Riesling, Chardonnay, Dragon’s Tooth, Cabernet Sauvignon and Halo—we’ll explore how the family’s history, vineyards and philosophy are expressed in the glass.
